Telecom providers are now required to block Robocalls

If you’re tired of all the automated robocalls saying, “We’ve been trying to reach you concerning your car’s extended warranty,” you’re in good company.

The Federal Communications Commission said on Thursday that telecom providers in the United States will be required to start blocking robocalls.

The order targets a group of thirteen individuals and six companies.

There have allegedly been eight billion Robocalls advertising extended vehicle warranties in the last four years.

Almost all of the calls are considered illegal under U.S. law.

Robocalls about extended car warranties have been the Number one complaint by consumers to the FCC for the past two years.

The FCC said telecom companies that continue to allow those illegal calls could face penalties.
