Local school boards in Kansas will be allowed to reopen schools in mid-august as they normally would if they choose. The Kansas Board of Education yesterday rejected Governor Kelly’s plan to postpone the start of fall classes until after Labor Day. The boards 5-5 vote allows the state’s local school boards to decide when to reopen. Missouri Governor Mike Parson is on a tour across the Show Me State calling for Action to address the violent crime rate on Tuesday. He visited Hannibal LaGrange University in Hannibal to meet with local leaders and law enforcement. The Governor wants the upcoming special legislative session to address violent crime and the Oklahoma Supreme Court says Governor Kevin Stitt overstepped his authority when he reached a casino gambling agreement with two Native American tribes .The high court determined the Compact stit signed with the Comanche nation and Otoe-Missouria Tribe are invalid under Oklahoma law.
