Extreme Adventure Blood Drive August 17 through 28 offers adventure themed T-shirt and drawing prizes for fun summer days ahead

Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO), the sole supplier of blood and plasma to patients at more than 40 area healthcare facilities, wants to make sure you have some “extremely” excellent fun this summer. The Extreme Adventure Blood Drive runs from August 17 – 28 at all CBCO donor centers in Springfield, Joplin, Bentonville and Springdale.

During the Extreme Adventure Blood Drive, donors will receive CBCO’s newest T-shirt, a sage green shirt with an adventure-themed logo. Participants will also be automatically entered into a drawing for some great grand prizes like a Pelican Challenger 100 kayak, a Lifetime Cooler, an adventure experience from 37 North Expeditions or a zipline and Snowflex tubing session from Wolfe Mountain Resort in Branson.

The drive promises fun for donors, but also provides a lifesaving reality for Ozarks area hospital patients who need blood. More than 9,000 potential donations have been lost since March due to the COVID19 pandemic. Some mobile blood drive cancellations are still occurring, which means that blood reserves for area patients are very low. “We love to reward our blood donors with gifts, but the real gift is realized when patients in our area hospitals recover thanks to that donation,” CBCO Media Relations Representative Chris Pilgrim said. “We continue to be challenged to meet area needs, and events like this one are vital in helping to ensure that blood will be on the shelves for our friends and neighbors.”

Although walk-in donors are welcome, appointments are strongly encouraged to ensure a positive donation experience. Masks are required for all donors and staff. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided for you. For information on those appointments and for donation times, go online to www.cbco.org.
