Kim Barnes has lived in the Four States all her life, making her home in the same small town in
Kansas that she was born in. She grew up listening to country music on all the big 3 radio
stations in the area, of which KKOW was one! Her parents listened to country and instilled that
love for good music in her at a young age. In her teenage years while cruising main street with
her country music cranked up, she “met” George Strait on the radio and she was hooked forever!
As a matter of fact, he’s the reason she wanted to become a DJ, so she could play lots more
George over the airwaves!
Kim’s dream came true in 1986 when she landed her first radio gig. She went on to work in
radio for over 25 years not only being a DJ but also Music Director, Production and Office
Manager, and overall Operations Manager. From spinning records on an old turntable to using
digital recordings, she’s seen a lot of changes in the radio industry. She’s excited to be back for
another spin in radio land!
In addition to radio, she enjoys spending time with her family and two furbabies Boo and Annie.
She loves Jesus with her whole heart and is very active in her church and serves in many areas.
For Kim it’s all about Jesus and George Strait! (That should be a country song!!!)
And she loves being on the air at one of her favorite radio stations from way back, KKOW!
