According to researchers with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, the first confirmed case of monkeypox has been found.

According to authorities, the patient is an adult Johnson County resident who recently left the country.

The chance of monkeypox spreading to Kansas is still minimal, according to KDHE Secretary Janet Stanek. “To prevent transmitting the disease to others, it’s crucial to stay at home and call your healthcare practitioner as soon as you see symptoms of monkeypox illness.”
