Salvation Army: The Salvation Army provides mobile feeding, shelter support, supply coordination/distribution and other forms of relief, recovery and restorative assistance in cooperation with local and state emergency management operations. They are in need of the following items for tornado victims: Water, gatorade, non-perishable food items, cereal, chips, canned goods, nutrition bars and drinks, diapers, baby formula, coolers, gloves, tarps, first aid kits, safety glasses, ear plugs, personal hygene items, shampoo, soap, razo blades, toothbrushes and toothpaste, plastic storage containers, plastic bags, zip lock bags, chain saws, cain or saw bar oil, wheel barrows, shovels, small hand tools. Clothing is NOT needed at this time. American Red Cross: All Arvest Bank locations are accepting donations to benefit the victims of the May 10th tornados in Missouri and Oklahoma. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to teh American Red Cross and will be used locally to directly benefit relief efforts. Account Name: American Red Cross May 10 Tornado Victims Account Number:71525611 Checks may be made payable to the American Red Cross You can also make monetary donations to the American Red Cross by calling 1-800-HELP-NOW or donate online. Arvest will also be a collection point for the American Red Cross. They are accepting non-perishable items such as bottled water, diapers, toiletries, canned goods, etc and can be dropped off at any Arvest Bank location in the area (Joplin, Neosho, Webb City, Carthage, or Miami).
Race Brother's Farm and Home Supply- Taking donations for disaster relief: Baby Products, Hygiene Care Products, Bottled Water, Any Size Storage Containers, Bedding. Drop off at 2309 Fairlawn, Carthage, MO. Downstream Casino- Downstream Casino's Employment Office is hosting "Caring Cans". The are collecting canned and nonperishable food items for the storm victims in Picher Oklahoma. Every few days they will take the boxes over. Anyone can donate. Randall W. Brown Reprinted from The Morning Sun
Randall W. Brown, 32, of Arma died at 8:12 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2008 at Freeman Health System at Joplin, Missouri.
Mr. Brown was born October 27, 1975 at Orange Park, Florida the son of Randy Brown and Cynthia Denison. Mr. Brown was a customer service representative for Great Western Insurance in Fort Scott. He also worked part-time as a disc-jockey for KKOW Radio, known as Randy Roberts. Randall was raised in Hawaii and Virginia. He graduated from Woodbridge Senior High in Woodbridge, Virginia. He attended Pittsburg State University and received a degree in history. He had been a resident of Arma the past two years. He married Jessica Good on September 27, 2003 at the Trinity Baptist Church in Pittsburg. Jessica survives at the home. Randall was a member of the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity, an alumnus of Pittsburg State University, and a member of the Virginia Historical Association. Additional survivors include a daughter, McKenna Brooks Brown and a son, Carter Denison Brown, both of the home; his father, Randy Brown, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, his mother, Cynthia Denison of Woodbridge, Virginia, and two brothers, Shaun Brown of Valdese, North Carolina and Kelly Brown of Fort Drum, New York; a step-brother, Sheldon Brown, Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and a step-sister, Jessica Brown, Ewa Beach, Hawaii.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008 at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma with the Rev. Michael Hart of the Trinity Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bedene Chapel in Arma where friends may call after 11 a.m. Wednesday. The family suggests memorials to an educational fund for his children McKenna and Carter. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.

Randy was a great friend to all of us here at KKOW/KBZI. We will miss him greatly. Randy always had a smile on his face and his eyes would light up when he talked about his children. We hope they grow up knowing how much they were truely loved.
